Every year, we blend the relaxed Sri Lankan beach vibe with a few heartfelt Scandinavian Christmas traditions, creating a festive atmosphere that feels personal, joyful, and very much At Ease.
We celebrate Christmas on the evening of December 24th, just as it is traditionally done in Scandinavia.

A Christmas feast by the sea 🦐🐟
Christmas dinner is one of the highlights of the celebration.
Our kitchen prepares a generous seafood platter, filled with fresh catches from the ocean: lobster, prawns, fish, calamari, and other local favourites.
As the sun sets and the sky turns golden, the evening slowly becomes a long, relaxed dinner, shared the way Christmas should be, unhurried, joyful, and together.
Dancing around the tree & a secret guest 🎄🎶
Growing up in Norway, Christmas has always been about magical moments for children, togetherness, and small traditions that bring people closer.
One of the traditions Merete brought with her to Hikkaduwa is dancing and singing around the Christmas tree.
So yes, we dance around the Christmas tree at the hotel too 🎄💃🎶 The songs are in Norwegian, but everyone is welcome to join in. Clapping, laughing, and dancing are universal – no language needed.
And for one very special moment… Santa even makes an appearance 🎅✨ (That is, of course, if all the hotel guests have been good that year)
