Example of a Travel Itinerary in Sri Lanka:
Travel Itinerary: Colombo, Dambulla, Kandy:
Most tourists start their Sri Lanka itinerary in Colombo airport. There you can spend 1-2 nights at the beginning or the end of the line. But it is also possible to take a driver directly from the airport to Dambulla or Sigiriya to climb the famous Lion’s Rock, visit the rock temples of Dambulla or go on a safari in Minneriya National Park.
Kandy can be found on almost all routes, because the lively town offers some interesting sights and the journey through the central highlands also begins here. One night’s stay is usually sufficient for Kandy, unless you choose Kandy as a base for several day trips.
Travel Itinerary: The highland of Sri Lanka:
Adam’s Peak, nearly 2300 meters high, is located in Nallathanniya, near Hatton and is easily accessible by train from Kandy. A sunrise hike is one of the highlights during the trip in Sri Lanka. The view and the colors are simply exceptional.
In the central highlands there are a number of interesting places to visit. Most travelers choose the town of Ella as the starting point for their activities. This town has become more and more crowded for tourists in recent years. At least one other place must be visited due to the beautiful nature.
Here, for example, Haputale is recommended, which is much less visited than Nuwara Eliya, but is just as beautiful.
Before heading to the beach, Sri Lankan travellers are often going to one of the two most popular national parks, Yala or Udawalawe. Since most animals are seen at sunrise and sunset, it is a good idea to stay overnight near parks.
Travel to the beaches of southern Sri Lanka!
Now the Sri Lanka itinerary goes to the beaches of southern Sri Lanka! I
would recommend that you stay a few days in a place where you feel comfortable. In Tangalle and Dikwella you have the opportunity to find quieter beaches, in Mirissa you can wander from one beach bar to another, in Ahangama or Weligama the focus is on surfing. Between Mirissa and Galle (the old city) is worth seeing!
There are still some less crowded beaches, but around Hikkaduwa it gets very lively.
But there you will find one of the best hotels in Sri Lanka.
