Example of a round tour:

Sri Lanka At Ease – 6 days / 5 nights. 

Day 1:

You’ll get picked up at the airport by Norlanka Travel´s driver. He will wait at the arrival hall with a signboard with your name on it. In the car/van you will get some water and biscuits, to get you ready to start the journey. After a comfortable drive, you arrive in Dambulla, where you will be staying at the “Nice Place Hotel” close to the “Lions Rock for two nights. You can enjoy the facilities such as swimming pool, restaurant and sun beds to relax. In the evening, we’ll have a look at “Dambulla Cave Temple” an impressive place which consists out of 5 caves with huge cave paintings. The biggest Buddha painting is 14 metres tall.

Distance from Airport to Dambulla: apx 3,5 hours.

 

Day 2:

Today we go visit one of Sri Lankas absolute highlights, Sigiriya. Here we will walk the numerous steps all the way up to the top of the enormous “Lion rock”. On our way, we’ll have a look at the famous cave paintings, and a local guide will tell you the story of this historical place. Next, we will go on a traditional “bull chart tour” exploring the village life of rural Sri Lanka. You will also see traditional cooking and get a taste of the local speciality “rice and curry”.

 

Day 3:

On our way south, we will be visiting one of the many spice gardens, where you learn about the healing powers of different plants and herbs. Then we arrive in Kandy, and check in to “Thilanka Hotel”. In this charming mountain city we’ll visit the well-known “tooth temple”. The country’s Buddhist consider this as one of the most sacred temples, and is well worth a visit. There is also possible to get some time on your own, to explore Kandy, sightseeing and shopping).

Distance from Dambulla to Kandy: apx 2,5 hours.

 

Day 4:

Today the driver will take you to the train station and you will go on an unforgettable train ride; a picturesque journey amongst mountains and tea plantations. The driver will meet up with you again in Nanu Oya, and a chance to have lunch in Nuwara Eliya. This city is called “Little England” because of it’s appearance, architecture and location. After lunch, we arrive in Ella, where you will check in to “Mount Heaven Hotel” with an amazing view of the surrounding mountains.

Duration of the train ride: apx 4 hours in slow speed.

Distance from Nuwara Eliya to Ella: apx 2 hours.

 

Day 5:

Hike to the top of “little Adams Peak” in the morning. Starting on an easy path among tea-plantations, before a steep top at the end. The view from the top is spectacular!

Next, your driver will take you from waterfalls in the highland and to the area near Yala National Park in the south, where you will check inn to “Kithala Resort”. Then it´s time to get yourself and your camera ready for an amazing jeep-safari  in Yala National Park. In this enormous park, you have the chance to spot the leopard, elephants and a variety of wild life.

Distance from Ella to Yala: apx 1,5 hours.

 

Day 6:

After a relaxing morning at the nice hotel, the driver will take you along the south coast. You will also get a chance to take a photo of the famous “stilt fishermen along the way. We’ll then have a visit to the fort of Galle, which was built by the Portuguese in the 1500s. Galle offers a fantastic view over the ocean and has a multitude of charming streets and cosy, one-of-a-kind shops. It´s a great place for lunch in one of the nice restaurants here.

We arrive in Hikkaduwa, where the round tour ends and you check in to “At Ease Beach Hotel”, or any other location along the southern tip of the island.  Thank you for travelling with Norlanka Travels!
